Memorial Day Weekend @ GHSS Range at Old F.E. Gold Camp

FRIDAY, May 27—Evening—Set-Up and Socializing
SATURDAY, May 28—“COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING CLINIC AND
NEW SHOOTER ORIENTATION”
--Flag-Raising (10:00 a.m., followed by Clinic)
--Clinic and Orientation—for those with no shooting experience and those who’ve shot a lot, but new to CAS. Youth are encouraged to attend (12 years old and older). No charge, but donations gratefully accepted
10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.—Newcomers will learn about developing an “Old West” persona, attire, leather, the Single Action Shooting Society and Golden Heart Shootist Society structure, “course of fire” safety rules, scoring, and shooting procedures.
2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.—This will be a “hands-on” session with a variety of
firearms used in Cowboy Action Shooting. Experienced CAS shooters will be on hand to help with firearm safety and other aspects of gun handling. Participants will get a chance to use single-action revolvers (cartridge and black powder), lever-action rifles (Winchester and Marlin), and shotguns (Winchester 87’s and 97’s, hammered and hammerless doubles). The session will conclude with a “3-Gun” practice stage to put it all together. Participants do not need to have their own firearms.
The Range will be CLOSED at 5:00 p.m. and will re-open on Sunday, May 29
--“Cowboy Ball”--7:00 p.m. at Chatanika Lodge. Dinner and Dancing.

SUNDAY, MAY 29
--10:00 a.m.—OUTDOOR CHURCH SERVICE
--10:30 a.m.—QUIGLEY SHOOT (two categories; $1.00 entry fee)
--1:00 p.m.—5-STAGE MAIN MATCH SHOOT
(Registration begins at Noon--$10 registration fee)
--7:00 p.m.—GHSS Birthday Celebration (cake/punch)
MONDAY, MAY 30
--9:00 a.m.—MEMORIAL DAY FLAG RAISING SERVICE
--10:00 a.m.—5-STAGE MAIN MATCH SHOOT
(Registration after Flag Service--$10 registration fee; $15 for Sun. & Mon.)

There is no shooting fee for Juniors (12-18 years old) at any GHSS match
